I support the parents speaking out for the restoration of the Dual Language Program

I attended the GCISD Board Meeting on Monday night, as has been my monthly habit for the past 3 years. I was so proud of every single Timberline parent who stood up Monday night to plead for the restoration of their beloved Dual Language program, which was abruptly cut by GCISD without the district providing valid, publicly available evidence about the true academic performance of the students — and without any input from parents.

I have been thankful to meet so many of you during the past few weeks. I am listening.

As your trustee, I would work hard on your behalf to seek out information from our administration that can either justify such a sweeping change or advocate to rescind decisions that diminish our school district. I would insist that the board show more respect to the families and students. To limit your opportunity to speak to 60 seconds, when you have been denied any other occasion to engage in a discussion with trustees and have your questions answered in a transparent environment was hurtful to so many of you, to say the least. We must do better!
